2020-12-04 · The Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) is a development in the navigational chart system used in naval vessels and ships. With the use of the electronic chart system, it has become easier for a ship’s navigating crew to pinpoint locations, and attaining directions are easier than before. The electronic charts produced by the Swedish Maritime Administration that may be used in type-approved ECDIS instead of paper charts are designated Official ENC. ECDIS combine components such as ENC, GPS receiver, radar, autopilot, etc., allowing the vessel’s position to be plotted directly on the chart display on the screen. C-MAP ENC Service contains only official Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs), approved to meet the SOLAS carriage requirements and the ECDIS mandate. C-MAP is an authorized distributor of ENCs from Hydrographic Offices directly, and through Regional ENC Coordinating Centers (RENCs).
