Analysis of slope stability is very important as many structures in hilly areas failed due to instability of slope. The aim of this study is to determine the factor of safety (FOS) of slopes located at Pahang Matriculation College by using limit equilibrium method. Two methods known as modified Fellenius’s method and modified Bishop’s method are used in this study.

Fig.1 Geometry of Slope rithm to solve for the factor of safety based on the above-mentioned methods, the forces acting on a typical slice is considered as shown in Fig. 2. . X IntroductionSince the 1930s, the limit equilibrium (LE) approach has been used to analyse slopes. This approach makes use of a number of differing analysis methods depending on the type of problem (circular vs non-circular) to be solved and the required accuracy of the result. The initial method adopted for undertaking LE analysis was the Fellenius or Swedish circle method (Fellenius, 1936). essential to check the stability of proposed slopes.

The disorders generated by breaking the slopes are usually spectacular, often destructive and sometimes murderers. Many methods of calculating stability have been proposed. These are differentiated?by the assumptions accepted by Irrigation Engineering Multiple Choice Questions on “Stability of Earthen Slopes”. 1.

With the development of modern method of testing of soils and stability analysis, a safe and economical design of slope is possible. The geotechnical engineer should have a thorough knowledge of the various methods for checking the stability of slopes … Fellenius [4] developed this method further, creating a method known as the “Ordinary Method of Slices” or Fellenius‟ method. In any method of slices, the soil mass above the failure surface is subdivided into vertical slices, and the stability is calculated for each individual slice. Fellenius‟ Method simplifies the possible; otherwise much flatter slopes will be needed.
